Keepmoving.co.uk redefines traffic information

Creation date: 13 February 2008

ITIS website applies elements of social networking to make traffic information proactive.

ITIS’ new version of its traffic information website keepmoving.co.uk is fast becoming the voice of consumer traffic. A range of amazing new features have helped the site gain over 6000 new members in its first month.

The site adopts elements of social networking to introduce the concept of a community of drivers, sharing their information and experiences.  Traffic information is no longer a one way relationship; members can record eyewitness reports, build a profile about themselves and their car and add comments to a discussion board aimed at making the site more interactive. Members are invited to set up and store personal routes and choose e-mail or SMS alerts which warn of potential traffic problems. Viewing the routes allows them to access other members who share their routes.  The result is that keepmoving is making traffic a personal experience.

Easily digestible
Keepmoving.co.uk members are able to view their routes in the form of a strip map.  This makes the traffic information more easily digestible, and it allows visitors to gleam the most relevant information without spending unnecessary time searching for their desired detail. The audio section of keepmoving.co.uk includes a map of the UK which highlights bulletins which have either been recorded by the keepmoving studio, or by the drivers themselves who record their own bulletins by calling keepmoving’s telephone based service, 0845-TRAFFIC.

Keepmoving.co.uk’s innovative way of looking at traffic, results in a website that is set to continue to push the boundaries of how consumer traffic is viewed.  Checking for traffic is becoming proactive rather than simply reactive.  Keepmoving.co.uk will not be standing still; new tools and services are due for launch in the coming months.
