EC signs cooperation agreement with Japan on ITS Creation date: 07 April 2008 Based on the common vision that ITS can dramatically improve the safety of road traffic and contribute to more efficient transport modes, DG Information Society (DG INFSO) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) have recently signed a cooperation agreement.
The agreement aims to cross-fertilize research findings on Intelligent Transportation Systems, to deepen mutual understanding of policies, legislation and programmes and to stimulate the exchange of idea’s and cooperation between researchers. In this framework, Europe and Japan will work together on developing a methodology to assess the impact of ITS in energy conservation and CO² reductions. A joint task, including scientists from both regions, is expected to establish this methodology. |
